    Preston Road

     

    In the heart of Dallas, the Preston Road phase three improvement project recently reached its completion, thanks to the dedicated efforts of H3 Construction. This transformative endeavor redefined the Preston Commons landscape. 

    Returning to Preston Commons

    The work completed on Preston Road is the third time H3 Construction has mobilized to Preston Commons. This work was part of an annual reviewed contract collaborating with Preston Commons’ trusted general contractor, Codell, who serves the shopping center. 

    Preston Road three-phase commercial concrete project 

    The Preston Road custom concrete project unfolded through three integral phases, each contributing to the efficient management of the overall timeline:

    1. Demolition of existing concrete: The skilled team at H3 Construction expertly dismantled the aging concrete structures and removed unnecessary materials, creating space for the upgrades.
    2. Pouring concrete for parking and curbs: The second phase provided a solid foundation for the crew to work on, particularly in completing the intricate pedestrian walkways.
    3. Creating pedestrian walkways: These walkways featured in-bed paver systems, necessitating the precise pouring of paving and a paver bed with multiple levels. This process ensured the alignment of walking surfaces and subgrades for future paver installations. 

    This project took four months from start to finish. Crews managed traffic control, demolition, material handling, grading, and concrete work by overcoming challenges and the expert handling of in-house equipment. 

    Adapting to overcome challenges

    The project presented a unique set of challenges. The shopping complex has heavy vehicular traffic on Preston Road, bustling pedestrian activity, and occupied retail spaces. H3 Construction’s Vice President, Cesar Ortiz II, elaborated on these challenges, explaining that storeowners were hesitant to confront the financial impact of closing entrances, exits, or delivery systems. 

    Consequently, H3 Construction orchestrated overnight demolitions and established meticulously engineered in-house traffic control and safety protocols. These measures extended to facilitating pedestrian ingress and egress into the buildings at an elevated standard, including concrete formwork, rebar, and grading beneath the pedestrian walkways.

    H3 Construction’s capacity to complete projects within the estimated scope is due to our extensive fleet of specialized equipment. Our ability to streamline processes was showcased through the timely execution of our Preston Commons projects. The availability of this equipment, coupled with expert operators, is instrumental in meeting the specific requirements of each project. Responsiveness remains central to minimizing project disruptions and reducing overall completion times.
